Combined Show with Positive Response

The second ITMA Asia + CITME 2010 , ended last June in Shanghai, brought the textile world to an outstanding platform among global challenges and financial difficulties. The exhibition, in its combined frame, is now jointly owned by CEMATEX, The European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers and three Chinese partners ; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation and China Textile Machinery Association. 1171 exhibitors from 28 countries displayed their latest products at Shanghai New International Expo Center and welcomed more than 100 000 during a five-day exhibition.

Regardless of the rumors and fears among members of world textile community that participation may be weak due to recent global crisis, this round of the fair ended with a positive response for both exhibitors and visitors. Over 20 percent of the visitors came from overseas and the top five groups of foreign visitors came from India, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea.

Among all exhibiting countries, China ranked first with 639 companies occupied 31000 sqm. Taiwan was the second biggest group from Asia, with 57 exhibitors taking up over 3500 sqm while Japan, the shows special partner country, occupied over 3300 sqm.
On the European level , Germany was the biggest European exhibitor with a net space of 5000 sqm ; followed by Italy with 4000 sqm and Switzerland with 2500 sqm.
In terms of product categories, spinning machinery ranked first with a total space of 17000 sqm followed by dyeing, finishing and printing machinery with 11700 sqm. The knitting sector came third with a net space of 10300 sqm and the weaving sector came fourth with a net space of 9300 sqm.

Though the impacts of the recent global economic crisis are still negatively influencing world textile trade, many textile associations and companies reflected high optimistic views after ITMA Asia + CITME 2010.

The positive impact gained through the exhibition is frankly stated by ACIMIT, Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers. Italian companies received order more than they expected. Sandro Salmoiraghi, president of Acimit , declares that the orders collected at the fair clearly confirm that were on our way to a recovery, with respect to previous levels for 2009. It is remarkable also to mention that 115 Italian exhibitors took part in the exhibition through displaying their latest textile machinery solutions ; among them 38 companies displaying the Sustainable Technology logo.

The famous Italian company Marzoli expressed its high appreciation for its visitors who were able to see the control system SIMIOTION Siemens that facilitates the machinery running and the quickness of the response time.

Many German companies shared the positive response too. According to a survey of VDMA, Textile Machinery Association, over 60 percent of the German exhibitors evaluated the prospects for the post exhibition business to be very good or good. Heinrich Trützschler, Vice Chairman of the VDMA and Managing Partner of the Trützschler Group stated: The trade fair was very successful in general and especially for our company -----visitors came from various Asian as well as non-Asian countries. Altogether, this ITMA ASIA was one of the most successful fairs in the last years. According to VDMA evaluation survey published in July 2010, strong visitor groups came from the following countries :
