Last week my wife and I visited a really nice garments factory in Bangladesh and these are some of the things we found out:
- The global garment industry is valued at over $1 trillion dollars.
- Bangladesh’s garment industry brings in $22 billion a year in revenue but has been hugely affected by the pandemic.
- The Bangladesh Garment sector employs approximately 3.5 million workers
- Bangladesh is the second largest apparel manufacturer in the world behind China.
- Roughly 55 percent of clothes made in Bangladesh end up in European markets
